Hosts
The
workshop will be jointly hosted by the Indian Academy of
Sciences, the Indian Institute of Science, and the M S
Swaminathan Research Foundation. The Indian Academy of
Sciences, founded by Nobel laureate Sir C V Raman, is
India’s best-known publisher of S&T journals, and is the
Indian equivalent of the Royal Society, UK, and the National
Academy of Sciences, USA. The Academy publishes 11 journals,
all of them open access. The Indian Institute of Science is
one of the best higher educational and research institution in
the whole of Asia. IISc is home to the National Centre for
Science Information and it
was the first Indian institution to set up an
institutional archive. MSSRF is a world renowned NGO working
in the areas of ICT-enabled sustainable rural development and
poverty eradication, genetically engineering salt- and drought
-tolerant varieties of rice, biodiversity, etc. MSSRF has
conducted several workshops and conferences in the area of
information access, including two three-day hands-on workshops
on institutional self-archiving. These workshops have led to
the setting up of many institutional repositories in India | |
