Online Access to Electronic Journals

IISc researchers have web access to a very large number of scholarly journals, made available through the MHRD/INDEST consortium, IISc Library journal subscriptions.

Usage Policy: E-Journals subscribed by IISc and through MHRD/INDEST consortium are licensed for exclusive use of IISc staff. Access and use by others is strictly prohibited.

Elsevier Science and Academic Press Journals

Elsevier Science and Academic Press journals can be accessed through Science Direct, which is a web based database of full text articles pertaining to Science, Technology and Medicine (STM). Science Direct offers a rich electronic environment for research journals, bibliographic databases and reference works. The database offers more than 1700 scientific, technical and medical peer-reviewed journals from 1995 onwards, over 59 million abstracts, over two million full-text scientific journal articles, an expanding suite of bibliographic databases and linking to another one million full-text articles via CrossRef to other publishers' platforms.

IEEE/IEE Electronic Library (IEL)

The IEEE/IEE Electronic Library provides libraries and research professionals a single source to almost a third of the world's current electrical engineering and computer science literature, granting unparalleled access to publications from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE). IEL allows access to more than 800,000 documents from over 12,000 publications, including 120 journals, conference proceedings, transactions, magazines and IEEE Standards; Full text archives of IEEE and IEE publications can be accessed from 1988 to the present.

Springer Journals from LINK Service

Online access to Springer Verlag journals is available through LINK service. Springer Verlag offers full-text access from the year 1980 onwards to its electronic journals (approximately 300) excluding journals in medical sciences with restrictions in number of downloads limited to maximum of 2,000/year.Currently over 3,40,000 full-text articles are available in Springer Link.

ABI/Inform Complete for Business and Management Journals

The ABI/Inform is one of the world's first electronic database. It has been a premier source of business information for more than 30 years. ABI/INFORM contains content from thousands of journals that help researchers track business conditions, trends, management techniques, corporate strategies, and industry-specific topics worldwide. ABI/INFORM Complete is the complete database, covering more than 1,600 leading business and management publications, including over 350 English-language titles from outside the U.S.It consists of 1800 full-text journals and 2000 journals that are indexed and abstracted.

ACM Portal to Computing Literature

ACM Digital Library incorporates digital versions of works published by ACM since its inception. Nearly half a century of pioneering concepts and fundamental research have been digitized and indexed in a variety of ways in this resource. The major components of the resource is an enhanced version of the ACM Digital Library plus an extended bibliographic database, consisting initially of more than a quarter-million citations of core works in computing. These works are of all types (journals, proceedings, books, technical reports, theses, among others), and from all the major publishers in the discipline. The ACM Digital Library hosts over 103,000 full-text articles from ACM journals 1952 onwards, magazines, and conference proceedings and half million bibliographic Records with about 2,50,000 links to full bibliographic information and 70,000 further links to full text resources.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a nonprofit educational and technical organization that provides full text online access to 18 technical E-journals from the year 2000 onwards on their site. These journals focus on the subjects such as Applied Mechanics, Computing & Information Science, Energy Resources Technology, Fluids Engineering, Mechanical Design, Pressure Vessel Technology, Solar Energy Engineering, Tribology, Turbomachinery, Vibration and Acoustics etc.

American Society of Civil Engineers

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is recognized globally for their significant contribution and dedication to the advancement of science and education in the civil engineering profession through information. The ASCE publishes 30 journals, periodicals and transactions that cover a comprehensive range of the civil engineering profession. The full text online access to these journals is available from the year 1995 onwards through Online Journal Publishing Service (OJPS).

Proquest Science Journals (Formerly ASTP)

Proquest Science Journals (Formerly ASTP) is a database that provides indices and full abstracts to more than 556 key Science and Engineering journals along with full text articles for 160 journals. All the titles are available online from 1994 onwards and the database is updated monthly.

 J-Gate Custom Content for Consortia (JCCC) - Journal article database for resource sharing service

Designed by Informatics India Ltd, JCCC provides a single point access to Table of Contents (TOC), bibliographic details and full text of articles, from over 3600 journals subscribed by IISc and 7 IITs. JCCC also indexes articles from about 500 scholarly journals, freely available on the Internet. Presently over 7,65,000 articles are indexed in JCCC database, starting from January 2002. Articles identified through TOC browsing or database search are linked to the full text article on the journal publisher's site. JCCC maintains a Union List (of all journals currently subscribed by 7 IITs and IISc) for resource sharing (document delivery). Email request for photocopies of articles found in JCCC and NOT accessible online or available in IISc library in print form, can be sent directly to any of the IIT libraries, while browsing the articles / abstracts. 'My Toc', a very useful alerting feature in JCCC, helps to create Journal Profiles by selecting the Journals of your interest.

JCCC thus acts as a combined article index database for journals subscribed by all IITs and IISc (since 2002), with support for document delivery and alert services. JCCC can be accessed at the URL:

 Emerald Fulltext Journals

Emerald Group Publishing Ltd, earlier named as MCB University Press,publishes the world's widest range of management and library & information services journals, as well as a strong specialist range of engineering, applied science and technology journals. Emerald Fulltext is a collection of over 42,000 articles from over 100 of the most prestigious management journals, complete with full text archives back to 1994 and abstracts back to 1989. This database covers all major management disciplines from marketing, human resources management, library and information management and quality to operations management and more.
